Do I need to pay anything when I drop my car off?

No, you will only have to pay for your deductible (if it applies) when you pick up your vehicle.

Does the shop receive payment from my insurance company or do I pay for the repairs and then receive reimbursement?
The shop receives payment directly from the insurance company. You do not have to pay for any portion of the estimate except your deductible (if it applies).

Does my insurance company pay you or reimburse me?

It's your choice. By signing a "limited power of attorney" form that we can provide you with, you can authorize us to make payment directly from your insurance company. Most people prefer doing it that way. If you choose that option, you are only responsible for paying us the deductible portion of the repair bill. Again, it's your choice.

What is a “DRP”?

A DRP is a “direct repair program” set up by insurers to help streamline claims processing. These programs give the customer freedom to go directly to the shop, get an estimate and schedule repairs. Most programs have electronic communications set up with the shop so they can view the estimate and photos almost immediately.

Do you work with my insurance company?

We work with all insurance companies. In fact, we have DRP (Direct Repair Program) relationships with many of them. If yours is not one of our repair partners we can still repair your vehicle with little or no effort on your part. Just let us know who your insurance company is so we can assist you. Remember, you have the right to have your vehicle repaired at the shop of your choice, regardless of the repair shop-insurer relationship.

Estimates

At Preferred Auto Body we utilize the latest estimating software and computerized technology. Combined with our experienced Service Manager, we can assure you that you will receive a comprehensive, itemized estimate of damages.

Is the estimate free?

Yes, the estimate is absolutely free and takes about 20 minutes.

Do I have to get three estimates?

No, that's a common misconception. In most cases, you can take your car to the repair facility of your choice. It's up to us to work out the cost and approval with your insurance company. This is important for you as a consumer because it allows you to get a quality repair, not just the cheapest one. It also saves you time and minimizes inconvenience.

Why is there such a big difference in price between estimates?

Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include all of the necessary work. If you’re not sure why one estimate is different from another you've received, ask the shop manager.

What if my insurance company doesn't approve your estimate?

At Preferred Auto Body, we have relationships with virtually all insurance companies in this state. This gives us the ability to work with insurers to make certain that every repair needed is approved before we begin work.

Some insurance companies do their own estimates and some use the body shop's estimate. Which one do I have to use?

That depends on which insurance company is paying for the repairs. When you come by for an estimate, make sure to pose this question to your Service Manager. There are literally thousands of insurance companies out there. We are experienced enough to know that when your claim is being processed through State Farm, we will be working directly off of the Preferred Auto Body estimate. If your claim is being processed through Allstate, Progressive, AIG, etc., they all have different procedures. We can counsel you through to the quickest, easiest resolution.

If I owe a deducible who do I pay it to?

You pay your deductible to the body shop when you pick your vehicle up after it's been repaired.

I got an estimate today, so how long will it take to fix my car?

That depends on the available parts, and the type of repairs you have specific to your vehicle. Ask your Service Manager for a specific time. In most cases, we will pre-order your parts if possible, and schedule you in for repairs when the parts become available. This reduces the amount of repair time needed.

TEAR DOWN

Your vehicle is ready for repairs, and all damaged parts are removed, and the vehicle is "de-trimmed". If hidden damage is revealed, we prepare a complete supplemental report of the additional damages, we locate required parts and pricing, secure authorization or a re-inspection by your insurance company, and then contact you with not just the problem, but the solution as well. You'll have lots of questions, and we make sure to have the answers. We will never proceed without your complete understanding, and approval of required work.
2

FRAME WORK

Our Shark diagnostic measuring system measures your frame or unibody vehicle by sonar. We can determine frame/unibody damage within millimeters, and of course put it within factory specifications provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
3

METAL WORK

Sheet metal repairs are handled in dedicated bays equipped with the latest equipment, including welders and materials like those used by automobile manufacturers.
4

PAINT

Paint and clearcoat, the same coatings applied at the factory on most of today’s vehicles, are used exclusively in our state-of-the-art spray-bake booths. One of the largest investments our facility has made has been in our Zhangda booths, and what a return! Our flawless refinishing of your vehicle will be proof-positive that it was money well spent!
5

RE-ASSEMBLY

After repairing then refinishing your "de-trimmed" vehicle, the next step is to place the job back with your body technician for re-assembly. This is a precise stage as headlamps, door handles, bumpers, interior trim, and grilles are put back on the vehicle. All components are tested and in working condition before the technician continues.
6

MECHANICAL

If required, once all of the weight is put back on the vehicle, it is now ready for suspension alignment. This is also the department that recharges your air conditioner, tops off fluids, test drives, and mechanically inspects your vehicle for safety.
7

DETAIL

Now the vehicle is ready to be cleaned for delivery. Inside and out, engine compartments, trunks, under-carriage. We want to remove any signs that we were there! We want to return your vehicle in better condition than before it was wrecked, and make it look like it was never damaged.
8

INSPECTION

All aspects of the repair are inspected to factory tolerances by your Service Manager. They perform a 22 point inspection, including horns, taillamps, air conditioning, heating, engine gauges, cleanliness, power locks, trunks, windows, and fuel doors. The vehicle is test driven, radio working, and final estimate checked against vehicle to make sure that if we have charged for something, that operation was done, or it is removed from your bill.
9

PAYMENT CONFIRMATION

Your Service Manager will confirm waived deductibles, location of insurance draft, and secures any supplemental damage payments before you arrive so there are no unexpected delays when you pick up your vehicle.
10

FINAL INSPECTION

This inspection is the most important. It is performed by you, our customer. You must be completely satisfied with the quality of your repairs, the treatment you received as one of our clients, the color match of your perfect paint. There will be no uneven gaps, and your vehicle is cleaner than before it was damaged. This is our goal each and every time. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to meet, and exceed your expectations.
